Critical Care Fellowship Training Sites
St. Bernardine Medical Center
St. Bernardine Medical Center (SMBC) is an acute care general hospital and is a member of Dignity Health, one of the largest nonprofit health care delivery systems in the western region of the United States.
SBMC is a STEMI and stroke center with 427-beds including 47 ICU beds. The ER sees over 80,000 patients a year.
Situated in the heart of downtown San Bernardino, it caters to a large and diverse patient population. It is a safety net hospital and serves as a tertiary referral center. Fellows rotating here function as the junior attending and develop essential skills needed for critical care medicine under the supervision of attending physicians who are in-house 24 hours a day.
St. John's Health Center
The Providence St. John’s Health Center is a high acuity center located in Santa Monica with multiple sub-specialties. Senior fellows will rotate in the ICU with exposure to ECMO, advanced heart failure, and care for a wide array of patients. Local accommodation is provided by UCR.
Arrowhead Regional Medical Center
Arrowhead Regional Medical Center is a 456-bed county teaching hospital located in inland empire. It is a level I trauma center as well as a burn center. Senior fellows will rotate through the surgical and burn ICU.
San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital
San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital (SGMH) is a 79-bed community hospital. SGMH has a 20 bed ICU that meets the healthcare needs of their community.
Rotations here allow for both adequate clinical experience and study time for fellows. Under the guidance of experienced teaching staff, fellows gain autonomy caring for both critical care and pulmonary patients.
